Course Descriptions:

Digital Photojournalism: Digital Photojournalism is designed for journalism majors to learn effective photojournalism skills. Students study the visual aspects of news reporting and storytelling. Session topics include practical issues of composition, equipment and exposure, as well as theory elements, such as law, ethics and objectivity. This course will also introduce you to the world of professional photojournalists and common shooting assignments: spot news, features, sports, and documentary photography.

Integrated Media: Students will learn the fundamental practice of mobile journalism, or MOJO, by using smartphones to gather, shoot, live broadcast, edit and share news on social media platforms. Journalists in 21st Century newsrooms are increasingly expected to build mobile journalism into their workflow, and it's becoming standard practice that reporters shoot their own images and videos, and record audio for podcasts, with their smartphones to add multimedia to their stories. To respond to this increasing demand and fast-changing technology for multimedia reporting, journalists should be trained and equipped to be fully mobile and autonomous in the field.
